Lin Borkin, Lead Homeless Liaison Officer, Team Hepatitis, North Manchester General Hospital shared her insights on the challenges and successful strategies for engaging one of the most vulnerable populations who are disproportionately affected by HCV. Through an innovative service model revolving around the needs and preferences of clients, Lin’s team has managed to test and treat an impressive number of homeless individuals and maintain their engagement with services. Lin explained the team’s approaches to service delivery from identification of clients and ongoing engagement through the process of testing, treatment, follow up and discharge. Her deep understanding of the barriers and needs of the homeless, both practical and educational, provided an insightful backdrop to client-centred service design.
