Mark Cassell and Lindsay Horobin discuss building effective HDV networks by optimising connections between Hub and Spokes and utilising already existing systems.
Mark is a Nurse Consultant, based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield, within the South Yorkshire, Bassetlaw & North Derbyshire HCV Operating Delivery Network (ODN). Mark initially started his work in HCV outreach at Barnsley Hospital in December 2015. Since then Mark has been working innovatively to reach members of the HCV community in a particularly challenging area. He worked to understand the issues and challenges and designed a service which made better use of community and primary care facilities, in order to engage diagnosed patients and identify those who were undiagnosed.
Registered Nurse since 1998. Qualified from the West Yorkshire College of Health Studies. Since qualifying I have obtained extra qualification in Liver Management from The University of Leeds and cancer care management from The University of Bradford. I have Worked in various roles over 3 different NHS Trusts but all within Gastroenterology and Hepatology. I have been in my latest role as a Hepatology Nurse specialist at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for the last 6 years. Running and manging Viral hepatitis service, abnormal LFT’s, HCC Surveillance and fibroscan clinics.
